About Erica

Hello there!

Let’s get the stats section out of the way, shall we?

My name’s Erica, I’m 30 years old and I live in southern Rhode Island, just minutes from the beach. My husband and I got married September ’11 and currently have one leopard gecko named Davey ❤ and an assortment of superworms and darkling beetles.

I’m finishing up my Master’s degree in Library Science and currently work part time at the University of Rhode Island’s library as a graduate assistant in the reference and instruction department. This summer and fall I’ll be returning as a lecturer, teaching a course on basic information literacy. I’m actually pretty psyched about that. ^___^  I am also a part time Reference Librarian at Bryant University, where I’m the Science and Technology liaison (and Legal Studies. . .but hopefully not for much longer).

I’ve done a lot of things in my life: during middle school and high school I was a Trainee/Junior member of Festival Ballet of Rhode Island and performed several times a year in the state’s main theatres. I’ve been riding horses on and off since the age of 5 and owned an Appaloosa gelding for several years. My main interest is hunters and dressage, and I’m hoping to start riding lessons again soon.

Other things I enjoy include musical theatre (particularly Sondheim’s shows), yoga, Eastern spirituality, and Ayurveda. My bachelor’s degree is in History, with my own personal emphasis on American history. My niches within that are late 19th century/early 20th century anarchism, the presidencies from Hayes-McKinley, and the assassinations of Garfield and McKinley. Basically, the Industrial Revolution era is my thing. ^__^

As far as books go, I adore older Stephen King, but if you want something a little more highbrow, I am a big fan of Tolstoy and Dostoevsky. I also enjoy reading biographies, especially of my beloved presidents and other books having to do with my favorite topics. I’ll be talking about this more in actual entries though, so that’s enough for now.

So that’s just a little about me. Feel free to contact me  or leave me a comment! ^__^
